About Jamie

“The only person who is educated is the one who has learned how to learn and change.” – Carl Rogers

My experience of enabling and supporting people through growth or recovery has been  acquired by working for many years within the NHS, voluntary sector and privately. I have extensive experience working with individuals and families within palliative care and those undergoing or recovering from oncology treatment. I also have experience of working therapeutically with children and young people in primary and secondary school settings utilising creative and play therapies. I welcome referrals from all ages from children through to senior citizens.

My core training was as a humanistic counsellor although I have also trained and qualified as a cognitive behavioural psychotherapist and latterly completed EMDR training. I prefer to use what is described as an integrative approach (combining various concepts in thinking and approaches in therapy) and by using my assessment skills and experience I provide therapy which is evidence-based. I appreciate that each person is an individual and I understand that it is important to be flexible and tailor therapy to meet a person’s unique needs. I began my counselling skills training in 1998 and progressively moved into higher education graduating from both Keele and Staffordshire Universities.
